>>5298756>“Faerghus. We’ll go to Faerghus.” You declare.“Huh? Faerghus? Why? What’s over there?” Corrine asks you.
>“I don’t know, but it’s sufficiently far enough from here, and it’s unlikely anyone from the Empire will go looking for us there. Beathan should be able to carry us in that direction a good distance away from the monastery before we need stop for a rest. I’ve got 600 gold pieces left to my name. Not a lot when you’re living here, but once we find a village, it should be more than sufficient to purchase us some new clothing, food and lodging as well.”Corrine shrugs. ‘Not the prettiest place in the world, but you’re the boss. Faerghus is a tough, dreary land, and it has always been plagued by bandits and other sorts of rogues. If we’re about to sell our blades, there are few places we’d get a better start. Now then, if we’re all set here, let’s go. Things don’t sound as if they’re getting any warmer out there.”
You mount Beathan and ride him out of the stables, Corrine firmly grasping onto your back. As you look up, the sky is a deep shade of crimson red, and smoke and flames fill the air. The sounds of fighting have not dulled a bit and seem to continue reaching higher peaks. Taking a deep breath and looking around the grounds you trained in one last time, you take flight on Beathan. It feels good to be in flight again, though that quickly fades as you’re now able to survey the battlefield for the first time.
“By the Goddess…” Corrine gasps.
You’ve been hearing intense battle for a while, but now that you’re able to put a picture to the noises you’ve heard, the reality of the situation sets in. Garreg Mach is on the cusp of being destroyed. The Imperial Army, though just a vanguard, have brought a massive force to assault the walls of the monastery. Already, one section has been completely destroyed, and Imperial soldiers are pouring in, slamming headfirst into a wall of Knights of Seiros. Siege equipment and weaponry are currently working on bringing the other walls down. An Imperial siege tower inches closer and closer to the walls, but a massive Fireball spell from an unknown mage on the walls puts an end to that. The tower erupts into flames, Imperial soldiers throwing themselves off in a panic, only to splatter onto the ground.
Inside the monastery, you can see bands of civilians taking cover from the oncoming barrage of Imperial siege artillery. Your fears proved true, and the Knights of Seiros kept the gates locked, preventing the civilians from fleeing. One artillery barrage hits the Goddess Tower directly, sending rubble to fall down on some people that had been taking cover by it. Sporadically, across the monastery, you can see the occasional bright blue flash, indicating the activation of a Crest. Proof that some of your friends may still be alive, and currently in the midst of fighting.
