When the civilians realize what's about to happen, there's a mass exodus to the back of the train, pushing and shoving and screaming as the people run from the impending bloodbath. Both the gang members and the yakuza stand still as ice, eyes locked on each other, as the ordinary people pass them by in a flood. A few shift position to stand by their allies, but neither side makes a move towards one another as long as the evacuation continues.
When the last of the civilians passes through, all is still for one moment longer. Then at an unspoken signal, the tension cracks from a hammer blow, and all hell breaks loose.
