>>5608686You yawn and stretch while the locals talk about the Pidove. You've had a pretty tiring day, and you're covered in dirt and dust from wandering around in abandoned tunnels. You want to get home soon and start acclimating Joltik. Its been eventful, but you're about ready to wrap it up and leave these two to carry out their ecological survey.
"Hey, Liam, you ready to head back?"
"Yeah! Definitely. Oh, can I send out Varoom here?"
"Probably best to wait till you're back home. Do your research in the car, yeah?"
"Okay. Damn, I have my own Pokémon now... This is gonna change a lot. I hope he doesn't mess up the house."
Bidding the two outdoorsmen farewell, you head for the breach in the fence and return to your truck. There's no meat to haul back, but your trip today has ended with relative success. Looks like the Hunt's Spoils will have to wait for next week. There's a green car parked nearby, with a canoe strapped to the canopy. You assume that's either Brady or Munroe's. Liam admires it for a moment, then raises his phone to take a photo.
Once he's done, you get into the vehicle, cringing as you leave black marks on the seats from the accumulated dirt that's clinging to you and Liam. Scyther is a little exhausted, so you let him relax in the back so he can smell the refreshing forest air as you drive back to civilisation.
You start up the engine, and soon, the trainyard is nothing but a speck on the horizon.

Halfway through the drive, you decide to send Joltik out of her ball. You pull over by the side of the road and send her out, while Liam eagerly takes the little creature into his lap. She seems highly curious of the vehicle, but he stops her from crawling all over the place and being disruptive. Eventually, he works out that the best way to acclimate her is to raise her up and let her look out the window at the terrain zooming by. Her little blue eyes become transfixed on the road. She's definitely never travelled at this speed before, as a wild Pokémon.
"Joltik! Joltik!"
"Hmm. I'll want to stop by town and get some supplies for her. A bed, for one, and then some supplements. Do you have cash to get things for your Varoom?" You ask Liam.
He nods, patting his pocket eagerly.
"I do, yeah. It's gonna eat into the car fund, though..."
"How about I pay for whatever you're buying today?"
"What? No, I couldn't..."
"We agreed that I'd pay you today, remember?" You say, keeping your eyes on the road. "Today was a work trip. So just take it as me spending those wages on getting you stuff for your Pokémon."
He nods, a small smile passing across his face. Liam sets Joltik on his head, where she immediately nests up and begins rubbing her fuzz against his hair to harvest static. He pulls out his phone and begins searching up what he needs for the Varoom...
