As he watched the Imperial run towards the flame throwing rat he felt that a decision needed to be made. Here he was going deeper into the horde to fight against a creature whose strength Lucian did not know. Whatever the case the horde itself was a terror amongst itself.
He felt at first he should chase the man, to try and defend him against this stupid mistake. Surely the fool was going to get himself killed by whatever horrors. Yet was that something Lucian wanted?
Wigmar had been nothing but suspect until this moment. Was it worth going after him and Lucian risking himself? Or perhaps was it exactly that reason that Lucian needed to go for him?
With a push of effort Lucian shoved a grouping of Skaven to the side and gave a swipe of his scythe. In a single motion he cleaved through a dozen of the monsters with a single stroke of his weapon. In doing so he walked forward three feet and gave another slice into the next group that were coming towards him.
He repeated this three times, each time getting closer to the building that the fool had run into. A bloody path of terror was laid to waste as Lucian surely crossed the field of mayhem and bodies. He was a steady encroachment of death that was able to make sure that everyone between him and the fool were laid within the bloodied tides below his feet.
Marching forward Lucian noted that the others did not come towards him. Each of his fellow companions were tied up in their battle for survival against the horde. None will be able to follow him, but atleast Lucian making his way in this direction was enough to keep his side of the battle cleared.
He did not know really why he was doing it. That was something to figure out later. What he needed to do was kill the Skaven that were between him and the fool so that Lucian can reach the fool.
After what felt like a century of war but only a minute in real time, Lucian passed into the building that the fool had thrown himself into.
