>>5208247>>5207801>(Where do you see Sathriel’s story arc going from here? I know when I write, storylines and character development touchstones start to practically generate themselves, so without spoiling too much, is Sathriel a character you’re intent to explore further?)Sathriel's the sort of character who tends to keep others at arms length for reasons, and as you've seen after Susan's execution, she doesn't want to be seen as vulnerable. So like you and the other anon have said, there's much to be left uncovered about her character through the lens of her aides/kids/constructs. I think Sathriel's arc going from here may involve her being closer in terms of Shu's orbiting network of friends and family until you or Shu decides that Sathriel's activities is worth their attention. Any other cases Sathriel tackles along the way will probably have a recurring motif/theme of Sathriel's internal and eternal struggle with (restraint v. reckless justice), (personal attachment v. consummate professionalism), (mercy v. condemnation), and (Crucible-era criminal past v. Current Clean Cop present) considering her vitruvian corruption. Lots of Binary levers to play with and to watch Sathriel juggle and balance should either you or I decide to pick up the pen and explore her character a bit more.
I might also explore Sathriel as a character more thoroughly through the eyes of her "sons", already I'm imagining the two of them engaging in witty banter. I should also probably make the two brothers more distinguishable from each other.
>(A personal query; aside from the obvious Phoenix Wright inspiration, are there other mystery stories/games/media that you drew inspiration from?)The entire premise of the story was founded upon the following prompt:
>Sathriel rides into a settlement, tries to settle a case, >A group of bandits arrive to interrupt her work, >Sathriel gets pissed off, Bandits get massacred a la Fist of the North Star.>Sathriel rides into the sunset, the adventure continues. The ironic thing about you mentioning Hercule Poirot is that not even once did I have Hercule Poirot in my mind as a reference.
In terms of mystery-related media that I used as inspiration or study reference, I ran the gamut. Law and Order, Ace attorney, professor layton, and Lieutenant Columbo.
In terms of the fight between Lisa, Susan, and Grizzie, Fist of the North Star was a big reference point, especially the fight between Raoh and Fudoh of the Mountain.
Oh yeah. and ah, one more thing. To go in line with Peng Ching, the Scarlet Sage.
>True Justice is impossible to hold, much less attain. >There will always be an imbalance.>And thus, I continue to weigh the scales.- A soliloquy by Sathriel
