>>5201093I always did wonder how exactly Olanius Pius managed to reach Horus himself on the bridge.
There was a bit or lore I read showing the Emperor and his custodes during the disastrous teleportation attempt to the Vengeful Spirit where he was separate from Sanguineous, Dorn and most of his custodes. He and his custodes fought through the hellscape of the Venegeful spirit against demons and the living vessel itself until "only he remained" and then the ship let him reach Horus.
Then I thought, "how the blazes did Pius get there?"
My headcanon: The Solar Fleet taking one last desperate gambit alongside the Emperors plan and literally ordering every last thousands of ships they had to mog ram the Vengeful spirit. Pius is mortal, the only surviving vanguard of hundreds of regiments who fought their way to the bridge. His laspistol shot at Horus representing the single scratch given by so many millions of lives lost in the boarding attempt to get him that far, and honoring the Imperial Auxilia so that they could say "we supported the Emperor in his final battle against Horus"
