Yeah this thing has been fought over for centuries, is like 1000 years old but fuck it, Harry can just break it like a twig. No one though of that before. In none of the fights over it, with god like powers being tossed around, the wand never got damaged but this 17 year old can just undo one of the most potent artifacts in the world like that. Makes perfect sense.
