>>5956200You return to watching the city, and after another half-hour there is still no sign of the Sons of Prospero. This is highly unusual. They will not venture out of their temple-arcologies? Perhaps it is a trap? Still, it will make infiltration easier if none of their psykers are roaming the streets, hearing the thoughts of those around them. You nod to Valdor, and you both return to camp.
“This behaviour is strange. I have not seen anything like it before.”
If the Captain-General is saying that, this must be truly unprecedented. When you get back, you begin preparing for the operation, and you are about to inform your comms officer to summon the squad leaders for a briefing when Valdor asks you to speak with him in private. Intrigued, you follow him and listen to what he has to say. Somehow you’re unsurprised when he begins explaining what he wants.
“I intend to bring Magnus the Red to Terra to answer before The Emperor.”
He’s looking at you closely, trying to gauge your reaction. Whether you can be trusted or not. You can’t, but he doesn’t know that, not yet.
>But Russ ordered us to do what was necessary, didn’t he?“He did. But The Emperor’s command was to have Magnus brought back to Terra. By any means. I would like to follow that order as far as possible. Russ has put you in command, Captain Ales, but you are not a primarch. Nevertheless, I would like us to cooperate, Captain, for I believe we both don’t want to fight a pitched battle here. Do you agree?”
So that’s how it is. Whatever you do he’s going to go after Msgnus, whether you like it or not. And if he wanted he could punch your head off, which would leave him in charge. Still, you have some authority vested in you by Russ, even if you don’t hold a candle to any custodes, let alone Valdor himself. It’ll be risky forcing him to obey. Or you could just let him leave. But then, it might not be wise to let him go alone either, for if he gets detected all hell will break loose.
<span class="mu-s">What will you do?</span>
>Go with Valdor to find Magnus. If you can find a peaceful resolution to this fiasco, you’ll have some pull with Valdor if you ever see him again, not to mention avoiding any casualties.>Suggest you split up, whoever accomplishes their objective first wins. Though you know that Valdor can take care of himself, you’ll be without him and the Sisters, and you don’t know what he might get up to.>Go with Valdor, but lose him when it’s most convenient. You can get away once you’ve grabbed what you want from here, leaving him and this sordid affair in the dust.>Pull rank on Valdor. Russ put you in charge, and you intend to see the mission through. Risky, but you doubt he’ll kill you outright before you’ve even begun fighting the enemy.>Write in?
