PLANETARY EXPLORATION
>roll 6d100
QM: for simplicity, I have adapted a very simplified Hertzsprung Russell stellar distribution.
For the purposes of this game, I will just say that G and K stars are habitable; if you roll one of these, you get a fairly pleasant planet. Some of the other stars mostly emit lethal and horrifying doses of radiation... or are surrounded by barren husks of dead rock. The oldest stars may conceal some unusual discoveries - And if only there were some technological means to bring more planets into the habitable zones of stars...
If you possess a dedicated Scientific Research Vessel, you can choose whether you are the first to discover the planet (completely uninhabited, you can name the planet after yourself yay) or otherwise (colonist outposts / existing infrastructure, this might be good if you need repairs, trade or bad if they are hostile / unwelcoming).
