>Keep it on you. Maybe you don't trust them to hold it, or you have future plans for it, or you just want to keep your childhood treasure close to your heart even if it might be a hazard. Whatever the reason, you want this item to stay with you, instead of stuffing it into a random folder.
Once the prospect of throwing this book away comes up, you find yourself clinging on to it tightly. Wind notices straight away, and tries to prompt you into relinquishing it.
“Marnie? You okay?”
“Yeah.”
“I asked what you were planning to do. It already activated once, are you really going to risk it again?”
You shake your head and set the book down on the table, examining the front and back cover.
“If it happened once… Surely it won’t happen again.” You say weakly.
“… What?”
"You know. Datastreams never strike the same place twice, and all."
“Marnie… Firstly, that's a myth. It uses a scatter algorithm, so it's just a matter of time. And statistically, we can’t make any assumptions about how it works. You’ve come to us about this, why don’t you keep it here? You can pick it up whenever you need, how about that?”
Wind nods in agreement. You know that they’re taking this seriously, but you can’t bring yourself to commit to it.
“I don’t want to be without it. I’m going to be leaving soon anyway. I’ll take it with me, and it won’t be an issue anymore.”
Squid tries to say something else, but Wind sighs and holds out a hand to stop her.
