>>5406216>You exhale sharply. “Could Ivan’s group ha-““Something’s coming!” Elias shouts. “Blair, look ou-!”
It all happens so suddenly. As Elias turns to try and warn you, something emerges from within the fog and silences him. A dark, black figure, with a gleaming weapon in one hand, has collided with your guide. Elias’ panicked cry transforms into a grotesque gurgle before your very eyes. His head, only barely connected to the rest of his body, bares a look of frozen horror as a hot spurt of blood hits you. The figure’s free hand, holding an identical looking weapon, twists in mid-air towards your own neck. You’re prepared for him though and meet his attack with the butt of your spear, blocking his attack. The assassin uses the momentum to launch himself backwards, into the very fog he emerged from. As he does, Elias’ body collides with the floor.
“How fortuitous!” A voice echoes from all around you as you get to Elias’s side. “We came here to deal with the traitors, but to think we’d find another of our hated enemies here as well. The gods truly smile upon us today.”
>“Who are you?!” You cry, attempting to staunch Elias’ bleeding as the rest of your squad unsheathes their weapons and prepares for battle. Elias’ spell is already beginning to wear off. The man was dead before he even hit the ground.“You long search for us ends here, Blair d’Rusalka!” The voice echoes. “Allow us to make our formal introduction!” Your body suddenly feels weightless. As you attempt to gather your bearings, you feel as though you’re being pulled away. You’ve never experienced this type of magic before, but your mind quickly pieces it together. Warp magic! One of the rarest forms of magic, and an incredibly difficult one to counter. Before you can shout to the others, you find yourself teleported away from them. You’re no longer sitting by Elias’ body, but somewhere else within the forest, and can no longer hear your comrades.
“Dolofonos.” You hear the same voice exclaim. Upon the utterance of what sounds like a name, the assassin you saw kill Elias emerges from the fog once more to stand in front of you. Clad in ebon and gold armor, his face is mostly covered by a mask, but in his hands lie two wicked looking blades that appear to be made of Agarthium. “I know you’ve been looking forward to meeting our curious friend for some time now. I encourage you to show her a Talon’s hospitality, while I drag the traitors screaming out of their hovel.”
“Thank you, Lord Odesse.” Dolofonos says, flatly. You unsheathe your spear and face off against the assassin, who makes no sudden movement. “That dagger, tied to your waist. Where did you acquire that?”
>Is he talking about Kronya’s dagger? You’ve used it once or twice since Ashe gave you the weapon. It was mostly a keepsake these days. Something to remind you of who and what you fought for.
