>>5276448>Keep her on your shoulder till it’s time to leave.“Right, let’s see about getting our tanks back then, shall we?” You say as you get moving. “We can use the ones that are still operational to get the damaged ones onto the transporter. Where is that?”
“It should be arriving any minute now,” Miho says from behind you. “Can you put me down now?”
“Then you’d have to stand,” you reply, “and you’re tired.”
“I could sit?” She offers but you ignore her and go about organising the return of the tanks to Ooarai. Despite Ruby’s worries, under Max’s careful guidance, you’re able to put Werewolf’s power to shunt most of the lighter tanks onto the transports. Rabbit team’s tank is a bit more of a problem given how much it weighs but the Sensha-Do federation thankfully has other vehicles on hand and between their recovery vehicles and your own, you’re able to get everything loaded up and ready to go.
It’s only when the last tank is finally aboard that you release Miho into the cabin of the transporter.
“Ugh, I hate you,” she mumbles while glaring at you.
“How ungrateful,” you sigh as take the seat next to her, getting scattered laughs from the other tankers in the cabin with you. With everyone aboard, the transporters push off and you’re headed back to Ooarai.
It’s a long journey back, but everyone is buoyed by the victory so spirts are high. You stay at the warehouse long enough to get all the tanks down and into the warehouse before heading back to your apartment and crashing on the bed.
