Just when people were beginning to lose hope, the woman’s body convulsed and she spat out a glob of water before breaking into a coughing fit. Everyone breathed a collective sigh of relief and began cheering. Some of the attention was reserved exclusively for you, and some for the man who’d just resuscitated the drowning woman.
You couldn’t relax just yet, though. Abe was still out there fighting for his life. At least, he had been a moment ago.
The birds that had once been swarming him were now retreating!
“Yeah! You’d better run!” Abe shouted, shaking his fist at them as he let the waves carry him.
“What happened?” you asked, snagging him with a webline and pulling him closer to the boat.
“No idea. They just up and left!” he claimed.
You frowned, looked up and scanned the horizon with your telescopic lenses. Somewhere in the distance, you thought you spotted a large, muscular woman standing over an inert figure, her shield held in her hand.
“I think ‘Bastion’ might’ve taken out their boss.” you speculated.
“Good. The open ocean doesn’t exactly agree with me.”
“You and me both…”

Shortly afterwards, when the boat was docked once more, the police arrived to whisk people to safety, collect statements and investigate the crime. They were most likely searching for the heroes of the day, but the two of you had already split to meet back up with Gwen.
She was still standing over the hand-cuffed villain, waiting patiently for you to arrive. He wore a green and blue, vibrant feathered cloak with a plumed held and a domino mask hiding his identity. What had once been a rapier was no snapped clean in two, and lying on the ground far away from him.
“I’m guessing this is the Kingfisher?” you predicted.
“I hope so. I just knocked him out because he tried to stab me.” Gwen said with a scowl. “Good job out there, you two.”
“You too, G.” Abe replied. You nodded your agreement.
“I wonder where those birds went.” Gwen pondered.
“I put a tracker on them before they left. We should be able to monitor their movements for a while. Hopefully it leads us to their nest.”
“Good thinking. I should get some of those.”
“We can teach you how to make them sometime.” Abel volunteered. “But we might want to split before the cops show up. I’ve got a feeling that they’ll be asking questions that we won’t want to answer.”
What will you do from here?
>Suggest they wait for the police so that you can build a better relationship with them.
>Stay to interrogate the Kingfisher.
>Track the harpies to their nest.
>Have Julia monitor their movements for a while.
>Move onto the next crime! (Cleaning Crew–Phase 2/ The Thundertaker–Phase 2)
>Write-in.
