You take a steadying breath and decide to take a risk. Taking the barrel of your gun you dip it slowly into the field next to the two cartridges. It feels like pushing a spoon into a jar of molasses but with a firm flick of your risk you whisk the two rounds out of the blurred zone and they reappear as regular objects in your sight. They promptly fall to the deck of the boarding craft with a brassy tinkle.
“Well that just raises more questions.” You say to yourself. “Somehow it's manipulating time more than space. I don’t think I’ve ever seen artech able to do that, have you?” You glance at the avatar’s clueless orange face and grunt in annoyance. “Nevermind.”
If only you had another engineer to talk to about this with, but your comms are still jammed and WEAVY is still unwittingly running interference with Eon and can’t be spared. You look around the few unfrozen feet of the vessel's interior, everything on your side of the barrier, and see nothing depicted but smooth walls broken by Spiker and Crab shaped divots - empty of their previous occupants. Nothing that might be useful in lowering the apparent time-dilation field.
You look to your frozen crew and follow the line of Kiro’s outstretched arm. It points directly at the floating faceted orb covered in plug ended wires and ports that seem to accept them.
The orb suddenly pulses red. You can somehow recognise the colour change despite Peedee having yet to update the drawing - the change cutting right through the perception filter for a brief moment.
You feel an abrupt burning in your fingers, as if your pistol had somehow grown icy cold to the touch. You relinquish the weapon and yank back your hand, the pain quickly fading. Peedee helpfully swoops in to update this scribble, showing the normal coloured orb in its usual place but the fuzzy field having advanced a few inches to now suspend your gun in mid air.
