You decide to head back for now. You slip the box back to where you found it, and then quickly make your way back down the tunnel. If it is just a regular ol' drug smuggling ring than there probably isn't an anomaly to be found. You decide to take Seshat suggestion, and head back to see where the mineshaft leads going the other direction from the freezer staircase. Because you don't have to fear what might be ahead of you, returning is much quicker and soon enough you are past the meth lab and into the unknown. From here you take a more careful pace, though the tunnel terminates much quicker into a circular room about as big as the meth lab room. You guess that whoever dug this tunnel stopped here, as the wooden bracing goes up all the way to a barely touched stone wall ahead. Oddly, unlike the rest of the path this room doesn't seem to have been touched, and it doesn't have any trash in it at all.
As your party scans the room closer, you spot Tamako on her knees pawing at something on the floor. You ask her not to get herself filthy, which she responds by holding something up at you excitedly.
"Hey look a tooth!" Tamako announces, "Do you guys know the tooth fairy? She gives money for teeth right?"
Zul sighs and says, "It's supposed to be your own teeth, but all the tooth fairies I've met haven't been so picky about that."
"Nice! Oh hey another one!" Tamako says, pointing at the floor. She glances all around the gravel beneath and then says, "man, there are a lot of them."
True to her word at closer inspection you that the floor has various bits of what appears to be bone. Most of the pieces are to broken or small to be identified, but you think you see some vertebrae and maybe a rib or two.
"Y-you don't suppose there is some sort of man eating beast here is there?" Seshat says in horror.
"I'm not so sure. These bones look a little old for some sort of predator to be responsible." The alien says, kneeling down and examining some of the bone fragments. "I don't sense any blood either. And there should be incidental items from it's kill. You know, bits of clothing, wallets, coins, phones... But it's just bones and dirt."
