“A scythe.” Lucian said quickly with little thought in his mind, “My hands are empty without a weapon, and to hold the weapon of my patron would mean that I am defenseless.”
“A scythe?” The old man sounded skeptical as he gave a solemn nod, “That is not a weapon but a tool. It might harm someone but… are you sure?”
Lucian could not help but give a smile to the man, “I am sure.”
The old man thought to himself for a moment then turned towards one of the parents. As the words were traded they walked out of the door. He looked back towards Lucian with a solemn nod, “They will return with your new weapon soon, Bretonni. May I ask you what your goal is for the near future?”
Lucian thought to himself for a moment, weighing what should and should not be said. In truth there was nothing much to hide, “I need to track down my companions. They are scattered across these lands, and so I need to find them to complete part of my Quest.”
“A wise decision.” The elder admitted with a nodding of his head, “Before you leave, dear warrior, I wish to implore you for a favor. That beast, the Jabbersythe, had struck villages like ours in the past. It attacking my people means that we are perhaps its next target.”
“You are asking me to defend your village?” Lucian asked cautiously.
“Yes, that is what I ask. One week will be long enough for our people to flee for the fortress of his Lordship and take defense within those mighty walls. If the thing of Chaos comes before then, we will be lost.”
Lucian could hear the sadness and resignation the elder was feeling. Indeed it would mean death to him and his people if it came. Its flesh was too strong for wooden weapons and unmounted armsmen to strike at it. They would die easily, for even injuring the monster will only kill themselves.
Yet Lucian had a question, “Where am I? I do not ask for the village or the Kingdom. I come from Bretonnia, the Old World. Where did our ship find itself wrecked?”
The Elder gave a nod to the question, “You are in Albion, Sir Bretonni.”
>Stay to hold vigil
>Lets just track it down
>No, we need to find others.
