"Great! Glad to see you're having a fun time! If only you could spare some for what we're going to do later!" Henry snaps at you. Not even this cold weather is enough to cool his hot blood.
"I did some thinking, let’s make another stop."
"Oh, it's a fieldtrip now?" Henry sneers, deliberately stomping towards you with heavy steps. However, Seesan steps in, brushing him back and shaking his head.
"Any particular reason, Rider?" Seesan looks at you quizzically.
"Just a change of pace, I feel like we're being watched, that's all."
Nearly an hour passes before the storm finally subsides. Once everyone is ready and prepared, you all rev up your engines, blasting back into the sky, ready to make up for lost time. You end up directing your group close to a narrow valley, nothing as organized as a highway, or even a country road, you've basically found yourself in a border zone. A place just outside of the former cities. After a while, you come upon a sweeping panoramic view of a forest, stretching out across the horizon. When humanity abandoned mass-produced civilian automobiles, you often wondered what would become of the unused country roads. This is what happens.
"Can't say you never took me anywhere nice." Tyri gives an appreciative whistle as she and the rest of the party take in the sight.
The trees have grown tall and dense over the past three hundred years, it would have been troublesome at best if you had to drive through it. Which is what you have to do, seeing as how Number 2 was doing just that. Using what you remember from the log entry, you do your best to find it. You and your companions spend a lot of time navigating through branches, avoiding roots, as well as checking the maps, before you finally see it.
Cautiously approaching the scene, you see the remnants of a fierce battle. Ruined vehicles and lifeless bodies are scattered across an open clearing in the forest. The trees did not develop this opening on their own, the battle itself had toppled any that were in the way. Brunt tree stumps accompanied the fallen soldiers. It was an unsettling sight for you, and a heavy silence clung to the air.
The soldiers had clearly fought valiantly. Across the field were the bodies of Saurian grunts, scorch marks on the nearby trees and grass. Seesan orders the others to search for survivors, but whatever happened here has already passed. As you examine one of the fallen bodies, your throat tightens as you observe the wounds. It's clear that this man didn't die from gunfire. Your mind races, desperately trying to find an explanation.
