The guests number one hundred, including a handful of insipid middle managers and upper management who might have even mistaken strained smiles for genuine ones. Perhaps the generous open bar is to blame. Perhaps some of the guests have left the mask on so long it would tear skin to remove it.
Is it possible there are only three notable souls in attendance? Three specs of color in a washed out canvas of grays and shadows? Perhaps a few more will break out from the crowd in time. The story will welcome them at any time.
No matter. The CEO walks onto a stage, grins like an ape behind a podium. The lights dim, then vanish entirely. It is very dark. A few overexcited souls scream. Cell phone lights fill the room, first dimly, then brighter as flashlight apps are enabled. Soon most eyes are blinded by bright white lights flicking about.
> Tell me what each guest does. Or don't. The show must go on.
