“We do mercenary work mostly, and a bit of smuggling on the side. Our job opportunities are pretty broad, so it really all boils down to what looks the most interesting, and how much the job pays.”
“What he means to say is that he goes after whatever looks the most interesting.”
Lynx corrected. Blackjack ignored her and sat forward in his seat. He leaning over the table to grin at Van, his head propped up on his hand.
“Well, what do you say, Vic? Do you think you can picture yourself bouncing around the galaxy with the B.B.B.?”
She blinked in surprise. This was the first time that he’d ever expressed interest in taking Van on as a member of his crew. Even Lynx looked caught off guard.
Some of the other rabbits were glancing over at the two of them with interest.
“I…I will need some time to decide? I hope that is acceptable.”
Flint looked relieved by her answer, and he was doing a bad job of hiding it. Lynx gave her a friendly smile.
“Oh, sure thing. Take all the time you need. We’ll be hanging around the system for a little while, so be sure to let us know as soon as you’ve got your affairs in order.”
Van returned the smile.
“Thank you. I’ll be sure to contact you once I’ve made my decision.”
Blackjack shook his head in disgust and slumped back into his chair.
“Why does everything you say sound so soft?”
—-----------
A little while later, you, Flint and Victoria were walking out of the Baxter Building. Your sister had a lot to digest after her close encounter of the third kind, and you weren't just talking about carrot cake.
“I’m going to space. I’m…am I seriously going to space? What’ll I do about the house? What about my job, and Pete? And Dad…”
She trailed off, her mind racing as her worries piled up in countless imagined scenarios. Flint looked worried, for more reasons than he was likely aware of. If Vic left on a huge space adventure, he might miss his chance to ask her out on a date.
What will you do/say?
>”Don’t worry about all that. Me and Rich can hold down the fort while you’re gone.”>”I think it’d be a great opportunity for you. You’ve been talking about breaking out of your shell and going on an adventure for a while now. Now’s your chance!”>”You don’t have to go if you don’t want to. We can find another way.”>”You don’t have to go alone, you know. (Volunteer to go with her//Suggest someone else go with her)>”Man, I really wish there was someone solid and trustworthy that I could count on to protect my sister in space.” (Glance at Flint.)>”We'll have to come up with a way to come up with something so mom and dad don't ask too many questions.">Write-in.Pastebins:
