Instead, you draw your longbow. It makes no sense to get into melee combat with a thorny thug like this when you can kill from a distance.
‘Distance’, however, is relative in these cramped quarters. Furthermore, the spiked mammal is not QUITE so dim as to be ignorant as to what you are doing. It grips its pick tight and leaps towards you, to bridge the gap. If it makes it into melee range, you’ll be at a disadvantage, having to draw your sword before this strong-limbed aggressor can wrestle you into position to kill you.
