The next few days were filled with several conversations with all manners of people of the Mechanicum. With TalOS being the representative of the Mechanicum at council he needed to know the framework they it was built from.
TalOS learned of the massive strain that was being placed upon Mars. That with the exception of Lucius, only Forge Worlds that have a Crusade Force local to them are making true amounts of output towards the war effort. Kelbor was working hard to get these desperate elements back in line and operating under him but that was taking time.
What was not helping was that the Imperium’s new worlds were not paying anything remotely called a Tax. Conquest was not in the name of economic gain but the domination of human culture across the galaxy. It was an annoyance to the Mechanicum, mainly Kelbor, that they could not pull resources from these planets with any degree of success. They all recognized though that by demanding Taxes it would slow the Imperium down as worlds started resisting their tithes.
Right now they can only complain about the Imperium Truth and the intimacy of it. When you start forcing people to pay new taxes is when issues begin to fester.
In the end the Imperial War’s economy was only being committed by Mars, Lucius, and Terra. The discovery of the Leman Russ being which placed TalOS’s homeworld into the greatest league of donors to the Imperial Cause. He would hate to have seen the finances of the Crusade before then.
It was to this point that several things made themselves evident to TalOS. The only reason that Mars and Terra were not bankrupt was because the Astartes were doing most of the fighting. An Astartes was worth thousands of men on the battlefield, but only required the amount of resources to construct and less to transport a Leman Russ. This was a reason the war footing had yet to be broken by its own sheer size.
Things were stark still and will likely continue to be unless more organizations like the Federation were formed. Resources from Inwit have actually laxed many of the greater issues, and if TalOS was hopeful enough more Kingdoms belonging to his brothers will be found.
That, or other Forge Worlds that have fared as well as Lucius need to be found fast. A boon like that would equal one of his own Brothers. Both, well, that would make this Crusade fiscally sound.
