>>5839701With the second squad of Hellwings beginning their assault, you once again choose to focus on the squad leader. The man leading the pack wields a dangerous looking tomahawk. Even if one of your allies is able to take him out, it stands to reason they won’t be able to do so unscathed. While you wanted to conserve your magic for the battles ahead, you knew you couldn’t be too picky. The squad leader pitches his arm back, ready to send his axe flying through the sky, when you make your move and attack him first.

An arc of wind is launched from the tip of your staff, slicing the right wing of the squad leader’s wyvern clean off. The man’s balance is suddenly thrown awry, and he is sent hurtling down into the city below. If his men are shocked by the sudden disappearance of their captain, they don’t have much time to show it as the combined forces of the Blackwings and Knights of Seiros go on the attack.
You watch once more as your sisters make quick work of the Hellwings. It wasn’t that the enemy wyverns were weak. Far from it, in fact. But as Mary said, the individual skill of your captains was on another level and would ultimately be what would tip the scales in your favor. Ingrid wipes out another three wyvern knights all on her own, while Diana cuts the head off two more wyverns that were approaching her. Your captains soften up the attacking wyvern knights enough that they are only able to pose a minimal threat to the regular pegasus knights under your command. Before you know it, the second squad of Hellwings has been defeated, and this time, you’ve only suffered two casualties on your side.
“We’re doing it!” Mary exclaims. “Keep it up! Knights of Seiros, hold formation and begin slowly mov-“
A crack of thunder almost jolts you off of Beathan as a blue bolt suddenly appears in the sky, racing towards where the rest of your company is advancing. You barely dodge the force of nature, but unfortunately, several of your comrades, including Mary, are not so lucky. Women and pegasi scream in horror as the enemy’s Bolting spell serves to fry them to a crisp. White mounts charred black begin dropping from the sky one by one, and you estimate that 10 of your allies were felled by that attack. Mary, to her credit, is still alive, but looking worse for wear.
