“Can do,” Erwin replies. She fiddles with a dial and flicks a gauge before swinging the helicopter around to give you the best view possible as you circle the field.
“Notice anything?” You ask Azusa as the two of you observe the ground through the window.
“Uh, big hills in the centre?” Azusa offers. “Some forests, and not much else really.”
“Exactly,” you nod. “Several big dominating terrain features, and otherwise pretty empty. You missed something though.”
“Huh?” Azusa glances to you confused then back to the field. “What did I miss?”
“Look at the roads,” you reply. To her credit, once pointed in the right direction she quickly gets what you’re driving at.
“Oh! They’re covered by thick hedges!” She realises. “They basically cut the field up!”
“Exactly,” you nod. “Even from the top of the hill, it’d be difficult to see and shoot through the hedges like that.”
“So flanking chances?”
“A lot of chances,” you agree. “That depends on where we start though.”
“Well, we either use the forests or we use the hedges,” she replies. You spend a little longer going around the field till Erwin tells you that the helicopter needs to head back at which point the aviation club member with you takes over. The three of you are dropped off in the southern field, as close as the helicopter can get you to the rally point, but still a long walk.
