The thoughts of TalOS were cut as Perturabo spoke, “Then how would you fix this? How would you fix this ‘sin’ that I casted upon myself?”
TalOS understood those words to be rhetorical with a good amount of lashing out. He was seeking wisdom by trying to get it out of his verbal opponent. There might be hope, “Let it be known that you seeked to destroy the corruption within your Legion. After that, there is nothing else I think you can do immediately.”
“If I say that outright, they will think worse of both myself and my Legion. You TalOS have already proven that the reasoning does not hold forgiveness and many will see my legion as a cesspool that it was.” Perturabo fired back.
“Would it be worse than your current position?” TalOS’s proposition was both a rhetorical counter and to make a point.
“Yes, it would.” Perturabo told his brother with a sense of burning anger, “If I admit my wrong in such a grand fashion then I will be seen as a fool and weakling. That I easily caved into the calls of outraged fools instead of the reason and logic that we speak here today. It does not matter what I say, for they will think they won against me.”
“And why would you bother against those that don’t care enough to learn it.” TalOS said as his personality matrix of Perturabo was becoming finely crafted and able to predict his brother.
Anger seemed to flair in Perturabo at such a demonstration of intelligence. And then, his anger seemed to fade. Reasoning was overcoming the beastial emotions that his brother had and TalOS began to see something he did not know he wanted to see.
Calm understanding. While other emotions clouded his judgment Perturabo had calmed.
“I will take your words into consideration.” Perturabo said as he turned to make his leave, “Good bye.”
“I did not finish my suggestions, brother.” TalOS said as he felt this was a vital moment for his brother’s career. He watched his brother look over his shoulder showing that he was listening. So TalOS gave the last suggestion, “Give your men something to believe in. Without something to believe in they will revert and become worse than you could imagine.”
“Do not think I am going to convert them to the Mechanicus just because you suggested it.” Rebutted Perturabo as he continued his walk. He said those words automatically though, for TalOS could tell they somehow struck a chord.
