"Ash and Rain were the ones most excited for it. I guess if nothing else, Ash died quickly and Rain put up a good fight." Cloud muses to himself. "We never really talked much but I heard Hail say that if we made it out, we were going over to a kebab place to treat ourselves."
"'Never celebrate until you win', that's what Lightning said. The others kinda laughed it off. Rain told him that it was going to be a cakewalk. Ash fuckin' asked for some C-Bomb but apparently 15 C-Extract was too pricey." Cloud is just muttering to himself.
"I kinda just wished I wasn't the one who survived, you know? Snow was going to croak soon but...fuck, at least let Rain or Lightning live. They deserved that much."
[BOUND BY DUTY] Should we tell him? I'm not sure if Ash was able to be revived but the others were intact enough to be revived.
[DYING LIGHT] I think it's too soon. Especially considering how the meatmen and women look.
[HOPELESS WRECK] KID DESERVES TO KNOW, THOUGH. I DON'T WANT HIM TO WALLOW IN SELF PITY FOREVER.
"They deserved it more than me. I was just the replacement."
"Bullshit." Zero spits out.
You hold out a hand. "That's not how you were in my eyes." Cloud stares down at your hand with confusion, not sure how to take your gesture.
"I'm being serious. For one kid against ten or so fighters, three of which were anomalous? You were a damn good fighter."
"Gotta back the man up on that. I was like a ragdoll to you. Kinda scary, actually."
"...I just did what I had to do. Wished it was an actual duel, though." Cloud mutters, rubbing his right arm. His left is covered in burns. "But thanks." He grabs a hold of your hand and shakes it. "Maybe I can carry on their legacy, huh?" You can't quite tell if he's being sarcastic or sincere.
"By being a drugged up monster?" Zero pats the blonde haired kid on the head. Cloud snorts, trying to put on a smile. "Better than the easy way out, I guess."
"In another time, in another place, I wish I could've met you without any of this baggage between us."
"Same here. I know you were just doing what you had to." Cloud sighs. "I'll...you were talking about a shrink, right?"
"Correct, G2. Grant, I think he calls himself. He's always open."
"Yeah, I sometimes talk to him." Zero nods her head. "He's nice to talk to when you have nothing else to do."
"...Maybe I'll talk to him. After I understand what the hell you did to Mr. Baker to make him panic like that." Cloud tilts his head to the side.
"Well, that's all I had to say." You stand up and turn around to leave the medbay. "Benedict. Cloud. Rest up and welcome to the team. Feel free to talk to our shrink."
"O-okay." Benedict raises a shaky, unstable thumbs up. "Fine." Cloud shrugs, trying his best to keep his cool in comparison.
"Zero, Vincent, feel free to talk to them as long as you want until further orders." And with that, you exit the medbay. You have one more interview target to deal with.
