The Orks, who were bombarded with so much radiation that one could wonder how they still stood, began firing upon the drop pods as soon as they were seen. Maybe it was the sheer terror they were feeling or an instinct in knowing that the end was near that gave them the will to keep fighting.
None of these mattered. They did not matter when the pods slammed upon the planet and out of them came the Acillians and Astartes into a dreadful warzone. They were but the cover for the greater arrival that caused the now damaged planetary atmosphere to nearly crimple into death. But it did not, such was the nature of the Mechnicum’s calculations.
The Titans Walked. Death Followed in their Wake.
The Orks were quickly thrown into a frenzy yelling whatever mania had consumed them. The Astartes acting as a bulwark began slaughtering greenskin after greenskin as they with the bloody chainswords within their hands. Many of these foul creatures however were turned into sludges as those behind the Astartes began firing their Volkite into their ranks.
The eyes of the Orks, once thought to be wild primal anger, no longer held such a thing. As TalOS looked through the eyes of an unfortunate son he saw primal fear.
Records showed that Orks would run away when the battle was tough but to fight a battle while terrified? That was something that caused the Primarch to think. He had personally estimated that the Orks would have begun routing within an instant of contact as they lost their connection to their foul gods. But they did not, if anything it caused them to throw themselves into the meat grinder.
Was that because the Ork’s desire for war and fighting were actually kept in check by their connection? That they gain some hidden tactical secrets that were automatically organized through a unified subconscious? Or instead, maybe, the specific scenario TalOS placed upon the Orks caused something to trigger within their minds?
If records dating back to the Federation were correct the Orks existed even before humanity took to the stars. Was what happened here today activating something within their genes?
These creatures, so simple minded as they were, held maybe the greatest of all mysteries. For now they fell like flies and seemed to have lost all their great machines. When the Titans began to fire into the crowds victory was assured.

>Address and treat those who had fallen with honor.
>There is no reason to delay the war. We shall march as soon as the planet is cleansed.
