>"Of course."You climb out of the water, and your servants begin their work. You are dried, perfumed, anointed in scented oils. The vapours sting your eyes a little and the place begins to smell of cedar and lime.
You are dressed in white linen for your undergarments, then a wool gown, similarly white but with intricate lacing and golden tassels. An armband of gold is slid onto your bicep. A belt is brought up, hard leather and dark, with golden bulls and men encrusted down its length. Finally, a shawl for your arm, glowing in the half-light with a dark red hue. This is of a softer, more delicate material - you aren't sure what it is, but as it is wrapped under your arm and over the shoulder you feel it is not at all uncomfortable. Little golden discs line its outer side.
Your cheeks and neck are powdered, the backs of your hands dusted with sweet-smelling herbs. At last, a round woolen headband, rather large and thick, is laid onto your head. It sits snugly above your temple, glimmering with its gold and bronze.
A copper mirror is brought up, and you see your face. It triggers no reaction; in fact it is the lack of a reaction that makes your stomach squirm. It is a round face, but well formed, with strong cheekbones. Your eyes are dark, keen, roofed by heavy brows. Your ears stand out a little under the headband. Not altogether unhandsome.
The door opens again, and the nameless official, your shadow for as long as you can remember - an ironic way of putting it, you think - steps in and spreads his hands. "My Lord, you are the spitting image of governance."
