>>6047470“Maybe Zelos genuinely will take what happened to heart.” Chiaotzu suggests as he walks with you both. “That he’ll strive to do better for the people he claims to rule over.”
Hearts crosses his arms, one of his gravity cubes forming in front of you all. “That remains to be seen. I still have trouble believing that his change of heart is genuine, but again, you vouched for him. It’s on him to not let you all down.”
And with that, he takes you all back to Zelos’ planet.
You did want to check out some of the other worlds, but you’ve got some other things you need to look into first. So while Hearts, Chiaotzu, Raditz, and 19 make their own preparations, you, Chuu Lee, and Zelos end up going to the Afterlife, while you send a copy to help out Sala’s further training with Sophis… and keep an eye on Hado, just in case. With the latter group…
Sala, out in the desert area closest to Zelos’ central temple complex, lets out a slash with the sword, trying to test just where her limits are with it, both in how much power she can put out with it, and how far she can get it to extend. The answer ends up “enough to turn the sand underneath the swing of the blade into glass” and “700 meters, give or take a meter or two” respectively. The end result is what could best be described as a crescent-shaped lake of glass, one that actually seems to have some lingering Magic still inside it. Zelos was kind enough to give you some of his notes on the sword’s functions, even managed to translate them into a language you could actually understand (which, note to self: Translation magic would be absurdly helpful, try to learn that soon). Which… is helping you, certainly, but you find yourself having a harder time properly utilizing it as well as Sala can.
On the plus side, you’re able to figure out the blade’s ability to leave lingering Magical effects, and might even be able to replicate it on your own, especially with how you’ve worked on having the MP Buster’s effect spread around a wider area. It will probably take a bit more time and effort to get just right, but for now it’s enough that you can use it with the sword. How it works is similar to Magical enchantments, you recognize, but instead of trying to “enchant” a specific thing, it’s left over a broader area. So where you might, for example, enhance a Ki blast with some extra Fire Magic to give it a burning boost, or a sword with the same Fire Magic to give it a blazing slash, you instead broaden the area of effect to create a lingering, sorta self-sustaining (if still temporary) “burning area” that will stay active even without your constant input.
