>>5850149That isn't a bad idea, but currently Kai does not have his dad's cyberware - the most he could do is ask about what 'might' be intact after getting fried. Kai has old deck components that were laying around the apartment, not the fried internal deck that was slotted into Taro's head. That deck and all of Taro's other chrome is, allegedly, in a secure NCPD evidence warehouse. If Kai had his dad's fried cyberware then Vik (or another ripper, or a netrunner, or even just a decent tech) would absolutely be able to take a thorough look at it.
>>5850154Vik does seem knowledgeable and fairly approachable, even with what little Kai has seen of him, but he's not a fixer. He might know some more of them (almost certainly does), but Kai already has contact information for at least three; Dakota, Wakako, and Regina. That's far, far from all of the active ones in NC, and Kai only has an actual working relationship with Dakota, but that's a decent amount to work with before mining for favors.
There are some niche advantages to having both plugs sizes, mostly in deceiving people or getting a hard wired link to multiple devices at once. It doesn't come up often.
There's more to come from Vik in the next few posts, whatever the decisions on chrome are. He hasn't finished his scans yet.>>5850156>cheap>not wanting it attached to your brainWhat, do you not like your frontal cortex getting locked down with ransomware or something? Live a little, choom!

>>5850200From a certain point of view, perhaps, but behold the power of weapons-grade Militech Hyper-Spin™: Kai has freed a trapped young woman from techno-slavery and is helping her sort her life out, he has only used violence in defense of himself or others, he is doing the best he can to provide for his sick mother, and also seeking justice for his father's murder in a city that wants to just sweep it under the rug. He's even making friends along the way with people from all walks of life. What an upstanding and open-minded guy!
