TalOS was not kind to the Word Bearers after they left for the Great Crusade. When news and the evidence of Lorgar’s attack upon TalOS made its rounds through the Imperium the anger every Tech Priest held for the Seventeenth Legion was of a Titan’s wraith.
When this last happened to Fulgrim TalOS had to stop his subjects and fellows from straining the supply lines of the Emperor’s Children. For the Tech Priests do not have a hard time feigning supply issues and troubles like that which would deny a Legion its full might without looking too out of place.
TalOS did not bother protecting the Word Bearers though. Not only did he pull the Auxilia that was currently following them but he turned a blind eye to all the misery the Cult Mechanicus was committing to the now vocal Pegan Zealots.
The response from the greater Imperium was that of embarrassment. TalOS receive communications from Guilliman with the Auxilia acting as the intermediary, the Primarch giving his apologies for the Stupidity on behalf of the Imperium. Another message was from Leman Russ who announced that the ‘Dragon struck the finishing blow’ and that there was already a song being told about it.
The others were silent, which was TalOS’s reasoning that this was more an embarrassment on the Imperium. The Imperial Fists Primarch Rogal Dorn did not say a thing on the matter. However words were not Rogal’s but actions, which came in the remainder of the communication between the Word Bearers and the Fists was dropped. Same with many of the other Primarchs.
The only oddity was Perturabo, who made sure it was known that he denounced Fulgrim for both his Peganism and attack. It was an odd gesture that seemed custom made to tarnish the reputation of Lorgar to the pits of the Warp, being that Perturabo of all people decried the use of violence against a Brother.
There was ultimately no comment by the Emperor, but such a thing was not how things normally went. TalOS knew for sure that when Lorgar returned to Terra to gather the last of his Legion that Malcador was going to have a discussion with him about such paramount stupidity. If things got worse then the Emperor himself will have a direct discussion with the Primarch about his behavior and religious beliefs.
If TalOS wished he could see that conversation first hand. Maybe he could if he convinced a Tech Priest to sneak into the same room as the Emperor during that discussion. No, that was stupid no matter even if he would pay a planet to whoever got the recording.
