You look around to make sure that the Agent is busy somewhere else before you open your mouth. "Maybe you do recognize me. Perhaps you're talking to a certain agent named Zeta." You try your best to sound cool while saying it.
The meat puppet makes something in-between a laugh and a gurgle. "You're not." What the FUCK does that mean? "He didn't look like her, that's for sure."
[DYING LIGHT] The previous Administrator? Seems like her influence lingers yet in this anomaly.
You shrug. "I'm not lying to you. That's who I was and, well, whatever I did as him is probably going to bite me sooner than later."
The meat puppet blinks, taking a moment to process what you're actually saying. She steps closer, trying to get a closer look at you.
You stand there, waiting to see what she's trying to do. What you didn't expect was for her to burst out laughing. She tries her best to catch her breath as she stumbles back, leaning against a nearby wall.
"What's...so funny?" You mumble, not really sure how to respond. You're already on a bit of a time crunch but this isn't exactly helping your stress levels.
Something black leaks out of your mouth yet again. That's when the meat puppet points a boney (literally) finger at you.
"It's funny." The meat puppet tries her best to hold back a snort. "If you really are Zeta, it's funny. We're both rotting away, inside and out. I guess we share something in common now."
You wipe away the tar clinging to your mouth. It's impressive how it doesn't burn your skin. Have you gotten used to it? Or is there some other reason?
"I suppose so. Did we not share anything in common before this, though? You thought you recognized me, after all." You flick your hand to get rid of any bits clinging to your hand.
"Well, that's on a need to know basis." The meat puppet snorts. "I need to figure out if you're actually him. But let's just say we worked together."
"Worked together, eh? What, like on No-" You feel your tongue twist in on itself when you try to speak. You bend over and hack up something fierce. "L-like on the anomalies here?"
[HOPELESS WRECK] DO NOT ACKNOWLEDGE IT.
It's hard to make out her facial expressions considering her physical condition but she softens up. Physically, with chunks of flesh about to fall off, but also mentally. "Y-yeah. That was something we did a lot."
"You were weird like that. Most of the others didn't want to work on them, especially the higher threat ones. Every hour, every day, you would be trying to juggle god knows how many rules and desires."
You snort, trying your best to recollect anything of that sort. It's all black back there in your memory.
[BOUND BY DUTY] No one else wanted to do it. Someone had to keep the gears turning.
"So, why did you work with me, then?" You cross your arms. "I did hear you go on that little rant about me, what was it, a day ago?"
"I." The meat puppet opens and closes her mouth. "oh shit you actually heard that."
