Mel flipped through the remainder of the pages. A tiny envelope glued to the pages, containing an equally tiny emerald was looted, alongside a threadbare sachet with just a hint of chamomile scent and a tiny surge of magic as well. Chamomile was simple enough to gather, although she had to wonder how much healing she could muster without using her entire supply of mana. And she was pretty sure Babs had quite a bit growing in her garden.
Executing on the spell with the readied ingredients was trivial enough, She emptied her canteen into a glass jar and quickly followed it up with the emerald and sachet, giving it a quick swish. To the naked eye little changed, but within her arcane sight the power in the sachet quickly surged out, into the emerald, then back out into the water. Within just a few seconds the water colored a familiar green. She fished out the sachet and emerald, tossing the former into the first and pocketing the latter. A little anticlimactic she supposed, but another bottle that stood between her and an untimely demise.
The little golem stumped by and dropped another load of firewood, complete with an empty bird nest. Mel watched it amble along with a smile, then glanced up at the rapidly falling sun. Day was running out.
