> Explore Lurid Grove
“Alright, I’m going to run that errand to the lurid grove.”
“Is that what we’re calling it now?” Babs smirked.
“I mean...rainbow grove? Bizarre grove?”
Babs stifled a laugh. “Lurid is fine. Thanks for help.”
“Any advice? I assume you’ve been in and out before?”
“Don’t take too long, and don’t trust them.”
“Don’t...trust them?”
“You’ll see things, hear things. Don’t trust them. And don’t forget to try on your new clothes.”
Mel laughed and glanced down at the ragged, once white, tunic. “It’s going to be a little weird being in something new.”
A quick change of clothes, some last minute tightening and adjusting (a bit oversized, but that just meant it was easier to stash magical paraphernalia everywhere ), and she was ready. There were still a few scratches and tears that needed repaired, but for the first time in a while she looked presentable. Probably.
The trip to the lurid grove was uneventful and she circled the outer perimeter cautiously. A concerning heady smell was already tickling her nose, and Babs’s concerning words loomed as well. Her arcane sight painted the entire area, magic crackled everywhere. There was probably a wealth of resources if she had the confidence to take them and the skill to not be eaten in the process.
A dirt path, occasionally dotted with the occasional weathered flagstone, wandered through the groves and circled a large tree in the center. The orange pitcher plants, bulging vivid things that leaned over revealing a glistening mana rich liquid, were stationed near the center. Visible glowing fruits hung from the central tree, magic shining in each one, although Mel was quick to note that bunches of three hung over each of the pitcher plants. A haze hung over the entire place, the source of the pleasant floral smell. She tied a strip of fabric over her mouth and nose, best not to breathe too much of that.
Thick bushes dotted with kaleidoscopic flowers were set at regular intervals along the path, equally colorful berries glistening on the branches. A respectable clearing around them, a patch of plants that seemed to have massive visible mouth like structures, complete with comically long green teeth. A bird skeleton slumped on one. The only other thing of note was a battered water well, little more than a single circle of stones surrounding a hole.
Well, where to start?
> Take a look in the well, in a place like this there might be something interesting
> Gather some of those rainbow berries, they’re coursing with mana and you could always use a bit more food.
> The pitcher plants look fairly docile, maybe grab a scoop of their nectar in your canteen? A shot of that stuff in your potions would probably be a nice power boost
> Climb the tree and grab a few of those shining, glowing fruits, they're literally glowing with mana.
> Write in! There’s probably lots of clever things you could do here!
