You follow Daitza, venturing deeper and deeper into the mines. Along the way, the two of you manage to catch two big, fat rats as snacks. While not the best meal ever, you’ve tasted worse, FAR worse. Like that one time you were so hungry, you had to eat a rotting bunny corpse after failing to hunt prey for three days in a row. Not even scavengers would touch that thing. It was a sad, sad day... but you’ve changed so much since then. Now, you can hunt even in a dark cave like this without much issue. And to think it was just a matter of having the mindset of a real hunter, not an Omega! You don’t like the person you were, not one bit...
Despite Gnolrek’s grasp on your tribe and how you were both practically exiled, you could say you are happier in certain ways. Happy to be a better fighter and hunter, happy to be free of an evil god’s influence, happy to be exploring new cool places with your good ol’ partner. Even she looks jollier than ever with the constant smile on her face as she scouts the path ahead. To explore and acquire knowledge has always excited her greatly. She has the heart of a true scout!
Maybe you’re so calm because, deep down, you know nothing bad is going to happen to your clan. Daitza understands this too, probably. If Gnolrek was really going to send a demon to rape them, he would’ve done so already. Those are mere bluffs to keep you scared, but you aren’t letting them get to you. No sir! Besides, you’ve got a far more powerful god backing you up, and if he’s really who he claims to be, he will protect those you love. And so, you won’t let fear take over you. You want to savour this little adventure and all those about to come, at least until the day you come back to your clan, triumphant over Gnolrek, and become their Alpha. For that is your dream, and always will be!
Speaking of adventure. You’re surprised by how samey all these tunnels look. Aside from ocassionally stumbling upon big metal boxes, some pickaxes lying around and colorful mushrooms here and there, the scenary is rather monotonous. If it wasn’t for Daitza’s fantastic scouting abilities and her great memory to keep track of even the smallest details and differences between similar-looking locations, you’d get lost in a heartbeat.
“Any sign of a demon?” you ask Datz, suddenly remembering that there could be a monster roaming around…
“Nope! None at all.” She continues sniffing in Luna’s direction, never once interrupting her quick pace. Several minutes later, Daitza and you arrive to a cave spot where there are no planks on the ground. It appears to have been untouched by the dwarves. You continue down this path and eventually find…
