>>5413897>stealth, ambush>battle royaleThis is an excellent point, I always played PUBG like an utter creeping stealth coward lol looting in the blue zone eating pain until dashing for the centre in a vehicle in the final circle (also, the PUBG ranking system I think used to give points for healing damage, at least when I was ranking up). I tastelessly grinded to Ace that way even though my aim is really bad, and overall it probably inhibited me from ever getting better lol because if you avoid fights or never jump to hotzones like School or Pochinki your combat reflexes never improve. In Apex there is many heroes that scan and detect stealth / hidden enemies so that makes for a different more intense action driven game.
But I still think it could be done, just like in an srpg or those jrpgs when you reverse walk into or ambush an unaware wandering enemy: the game could just switch into Fighting Game 2.5d battle mode and the surprised enemy gets a debuff like 0.8x damage or something for the first few combos. I guess what I imagine is a hybrid or extended version of the Soul Calibur "adventure mode" singleplayer map in the older games, or even something like the Dissidia "overworld" type map except it is an open world PUBG map with real-time knockout opponents like in battle royale.
