And soon, both disappear onto a train.
>KIARA AND MARUYAMA HAVE LEFT YOUR PARTY!
And soon, you board your own train, heading back to a cold and frigid home. It's the only home you've known. Now with a clear head, you wonder why you even live there. You suppose you were born there but there's no real attachment to it otherwise. It's simply a place you return to after a mission.
You stare out of the train's window. Moments of human connection are really the only thing keeping you pushing forward. If you were still alone by now, you probably would've snapped. Maybe that's why you try your best to appease your allies. To help them. To bond with them.
Without them, all you would be is Nicole Smith and to be frank, that's all you know about yourself. Nicole Smith. A freak who talks to herself. Everything else is secondary, fractured, as if you're staring into a foggy mirror that's infinitely deep yet infinitely shallow. You have a faint glimmer of who you truly are, after your talk with UNSTABLE, but you've tried not to dwell on it for too long.
[UNSTABLE] AGAIN, NICOLE. NOTHING COULD'VE CHANGED WHAT WE ENDED UP BEING. WE WERE NEVER GOING TO BE PERFECT.
[UNSTABLE] YOU CAN TRY HIDING WHO YOU ARE UNDERNEATH PERSONAS AND VIOLENCE. YOU COULD TRY BEING A NEW YOU. BUT THAT DOESN'T CHANGE WHO YOU REALLY ARE.
"I know, I know damnit. I still want to be something different, you know?" You mutter to yourself.
[UNSTABLE] I UNDERSTAND. I CAN'T NAME A SINGLE PERSON WHO IS ONE HUNDRED PERCENT SATISIFED WITH THEMSELF
[UNSTABLE RESOLVE] BUT WE MANAGED TO OVERCOME SO MUCH ALREADY. ALL WE CAN DO IS TO CONTINUE. TO BECOME A BLINDING STAR OF THE CITY.
[ANOMALOUS ABILITIES] To be unstoppable. To be able to protect the people we care about.
[PERSON OF INTEREST] Unable to be watched. Unable to be hunted.
[SEEKER OF THE CITY] To know all. To have the Companies bend to your whim. You already know three Singularities, even if only vaguely.
[UNSTABLE RESOLVE] YOU WERE NEVER ONE PERSON. NEVER TRULY ALONE. EVEN BY YOURSELF, YOU AT LEAST HAVE US.
You simply nod to yourself as you step off the train. You're back at District 7. Your legs move automatically back to your apartment block. The X-Corp guards, still disguised as G-Corp residents, are wandering around the nearby blocks. You step up to the guard standing by the stairs. He glances up at you and hands you a slip of paper before ushering you inside. You make a beeline to your own apartment so you can read it in peace.
Well, first, a quick shower. You haven't had a proper shower ever since you boarded that ship (aside from using salt water which barely helps) and the candle's nice scent only helped so much. You spend the next few hours just scrubbing all of the foul shit that's been coating your body over the last week. God, it feels good to be CLEAN for once.
You wrap a towel around yourself after you're done before laying on your cheap, shitty bed, propping your feet up on the edge of the bed. Report time.
