The setup itself didn’t take very long. It was mostly gear that the Prowler needed to hijack Roxxon’s systems, along with multiple pairs of binoculars, a zip-line cable, a handful of web-bombs and a signal jammer.
The rest of you kept the majority of your gear in compact utility belts for easy access. And while you missed the comfort of your fur cloak, the insulation in Silvermane’s suit left you feeling warm and cozy, even at this altitude. You had no idea how Cat was maintaining her body temperature under all that tight leather.
Not wanting your thoughts to linger on the outrageous body of your coworker, you spared a glance at Abe, who was still getting outfitted with the cloaking device. It was a bit clunky looking with all the wires and the metal disk attached to his chest, but Prowler assured you that he could refine it with some more time and experimentation.
A few minutes later, both men gave you the signal that they were ready to begin the operation. The sun hadn’t gone down just yet, so it was brighter than you would prefer for a heist, but you figured that Abel needed some time to place all those transceivers in the correct position.
You wished him luck over the secure comms channel, and watched him swing his way over to the building, his silhouette disappearing as the cloaking tech did its work. He was little more than a barely distinguishable shimmer in the air that you had to concentrate to see. Not entirely invisible, but given his speed and reflexes, he wouldn’t need to be.
More minutes passed, and you were starting to become aware of how exposed you were before such a tall building. No other nearby structures could rival its height, and the only other alternative was breaking into someone else’s home, so you were forced to rely on Cat’s expertise in this department.
Idly, Cat glanced over to look at you briefly, and turned away with a teasing smile when you returned her gaze.
“This thing you’ve been doing for the kid,” she began. “Is that all you’ve been up to these past few months?”
What will you say?
>”Pretty much. Not even she knew what I was doing until recently.”>”Well, I’ve also been training with the Morlocks. Need to up my game if I don’t want to get my ass handed to me in a fight.”>”Yeah, and I’m just about fed up with it. This mission can’t end soon enough. I can't wait to do a nice, simple heist that doesn't involve corporate politics or magic.”>”Why? Were you starting to get lonely with only Prowler for company?”>"What about you and Prowler? Feeling antsy without having something to smash and grab?">Write-in.Pastebins:
