There’s lingering information to be mined in everyone’s stories! You need to find a way to get all the bits and pieces that you can.
“Before we agree on anything. Hey Brutus, the spit bullets guy is Ka-Shing, isn’t it?” You start delving into these topics one by one.
“The rich nutjob?” Gregory raises an eyebrow.
“You got that right, brother. He wasn’t on that level back when we met. A bud of mine introduced us.” Brutus is amused. “Mike was carrying big stacks from busting casinos, but got his ass banned from all of them. He needed a new stream of cash and got interested in horse racing because he couldn’t hack it betting on other sports. Once a gambler, always a gambler. But if you’re a cheat, you don’t know *how* to win. That’s how I came into play.”
“Bro, if the luckiest mofo alive couldn’t do it, why bother gambling at all? Like damn.” Dylan reflects.
“Because this ain’t a luck game. You can play it as one, but the real board is below the surface.” Brutus points out. “It’s my turf, I knew who to hurt, where to move, and who to not mess with. Mike brought the investment, and we both got our hands dirty. Business-oriented people earning their due. I thought we were brothers, but when the noose got around our necks, he pulled out before I realized — and left me to fend off the tigers. And before I realized it, I was behind the bars for my last stable visit.”
“That has to sting.” You feel bad for him. Brutus sounds smarter than you thought, maybe you’re prone to fall for his schemes...
“Bahaha!~ I would’ve done it first, but I got cocky. The blood going through these veins still packs some heat. Can’t say the same about K.” Brutus laughs it off. “What stung is that he helped other people out of jail, guess I wasn’t useful enough for his new schemes…” Brutus really thought they were friends.
“Trusting a suit never ends well. Thinking about revenge, boy?” Baz asks the big man.
“There are no hard feelings, we both knew what we were doing. But Mike is my only way back into the track. If I show my pretty face again, he’ll go all soft on me and give me a job. He can treat you all like garbage, but with this one gesture, he can chalk it all up as a misunderstanding. Some fools fall for that crap, but I’ll take advantage.” Brutus taps his head, he has it all planned.
“That’s very interesting, might talk to you about it at some point.” You say. Maybe this is your way into K-Corp? A double agent?
“Just hit me up when you need me, Noon.” Brutus will help out. “And you guys too, can save some grace if I look like I have an entourage.”
“He’s all money but not real influence though.” Gregory is thinking it over.
“A job is a job.” Walter doesn’t see the issue.
