>>5169145You freeze for half a second, and then instinct and Irinnile move you. With uncanny speed, you duck down, reaching for your dagger; in the process, you just narrowly dodge a gauntleted blow by Sir Chase, though you cannot tell if it was intended as a sucker-punch or a grapple. He curses, though perhaps not as much as you do internally, for only now to you realize how narrow this side-street is, how bereft of witnesses. You understand that Sir Chase fell back not in deference to his agitated superior, but to cut off your escape. You are close enough to the Paladins’ complex that your adversaries could reasonably call in reinforcements before you could escape the area, and there is no easy escape that doesn’t involve battling at least one Paladin.
You’re trapped, after all.
You begin to rise from your crouch, eyes darting between young knight and old. Sir Chase is armoured, armed with a sword—now drawn, shining eerily with some uncanny property you can’t identify. Sir Innes is wearing only a quilted vestment, and seems to have no armament upon him… but even now, he is standing like a barricade, with a confidence that makes you uneasy.
“Great father of peace, Moroth on High, lend me your shield, that I might find shelter…” Sir Innes begins, like an incantation.
“…Great father of law, Moroth on High, lend me your sword,” Sir Chase continues from the other side of you, “that I might grant shelter to others.”
Your and finds your dagger. Your heart hammers in your chest. Your succubus is screaming a streak of colourful profanity.
What do you do?
>Attack Chase—he’s less experienced, less intimidating—and make your escape back the way you came>Attack Innes—he’s unarmed, unarmoured, older—and make your escape into unknown territory>Attempt to use illusion and glamour to distract them, and Irinnile’s abilities to claw your way up the nearest wall onto the roof… Though it will mean turning your back to them>Try to talk your way out of this>Take them both on, for your bloodlust rages, and you fear no silly surface-apes or sky-gods!>Write-in
