>>5195586>“That doesn’t sound like good faith to me.”“You can say that again,” Oryou nods.
“With no bargaining power what can we do but accept their Diktat?” Erwin huffs.
“We could just ignore that and try talk to them otherwise?” You suggest.
“They’re the most important museum for the Second World War in Japan,” Saemonza warns. “We can’t just ignore them.”
“We can do that pretty easily in my opinion,” Erwin snarks.
>“I wonder if the British Museum is as presumptuous as this.”“I mean we have their email somewhere,” Caesar replies. She reaches for a laptop and places it on the table in front of her. A few minutes of clicking later, she has the email open in front of her.
The lot of you read through it together. It has just about everything you’d expect – an acknowledgement of the importance of what you’ve found, an explanation of why they want it – apparently British troops fought there, and the Burma is of interest to them as part of the forgotten war in the east, as well as mentions of the influence of the museum itself in the historical and general world.
“Well, at least they’re not asking us to give it to them before we talk,” you hum as you read the email. “No mention of anything else.”
“At least they’re polite about it,” you hum, scanning it. “Not demanding we give it to them first.”
“They do have a point though,” Caesar points out. “Now that the secret’s out, the gold isn’t exactly safe sitting upstairs.”
“That’s what a bank is for,” Oryou points out. “A bank on a ship in the middle of the ocean seems pretty safe to me.”
“There’s also the fact that Yūshūkan has ties to anyone that’s anybody in the Japanese history world,” Saemonza points out. “We don’t want to snub them if we don’t have to.”
>“Let’s just reply to both, see what happens.”>“Yūshūkan hasn’t been very respectful, so I see no need to respond to them.”>“With all due respect, I don’t see how this has anything to do with the British museum.”>“Let’s just wait, see if anyone else chases us up.”>“Let’s get this stuff in a vault of some kind.”>Write-in
