Your mom can call the cops in the morning. When they come around and ask what happened, you'll tell them that your clothes got torn up during a fight with those assholes.
You must've disturbed a bear that had wandered into the old mine. The commotion riled it up and it attacked.
You managed to get away with it just biting your arm and shredding your clothes up even more, before it turned on the other boys.
You ran, ended up in the forest and eventually came back to town when you were sure it was safe. You'll scratch yourself up a bit, just to make it really look like you really spent some time in the woods.
Finally, you got back home and spent what was left of the night recovering from the ordeal.
Once your mom's done with the phone call, you share your plan with her. She's not so sure about saying that you spent the night at home. That would mean that the cops wasted the night looking for you and could get both of you in trouble - especially since that was them on the phone just now. She thinks it would be better if you came home in the early morning, so she can claim that she called the police as soon as you showed up.
Honestly? You're too tired to argue with her. Now that you're finally home, exhaustion is starting to kick in and all you want to do is lie down and sleep. It's almost midnight by this point, so you better catch some shut-eye while you have the chance.
Your slumber is a restless one. You dream of Eastchurch, but the whole town is covered in cobwebs. There's spiders crawling all over everything, but they pay you no mind. It's the snakes that worry you. They erupt from the earth all around you and slither towards you. You've got no choice but to run but they never stop bursting out of the ground, no matter where you go.
You eventually find yourself trapped, surrounded by a sea of serpents converging on you. Just as you're about to drown under them, the clouds part and reveal the full moon, shining brighter than ever. It burns away the snakes, the spiders, the webs - everything. Nothing can resist the fury of the full moon.
