Then there are the 6th and 7th Lances, Sir Kristopher Marley and Sir Ian de Camp. Two men that had pursued the same woman in fair rivalry for her affection, only for both to be spurned in favour of another. Heartbroken, the two men swore to find an honourable death in battle together rather than face a life without her love. While they refuse to name the damsel in question, the two knights are fair companionable and ready in the telling of their tale. You could not say whether it is indeed solemn heartbreak or wry irony that lies behind their sombre tone with each toast of ‘To Our Fair Lady’ that comes with every cup.
That leaves you, the 8th Lance, followed by perhaps the most surprising is the familiar faces of the 9th and 10th Lances, Sir Conner Cedric and Sir Caden Cedric. They must have been the new recruits to the 43rd Talon, bring your Talon to full strength, and have only just arrived in the Palace that very evening a half-day after your own induction. You had your suspicions that the two Kingsmen were not just here for the pilgrimage and some sightseeing, and their acceptance into the Guard might suggest they are also not without connections. Still, the twins seem delighted to have ended up in the same Talon as yourself and greet you warmly with many questions about what can be expected on duty tomorrow. Questions you are not well placed to answer.
It appears the Command Talon is still a ways of yet, so you find yourself in conversation with the new comrade seated next to you…
