"I want that shit-eating grin of yours to be genuine. I want you to actually be confident. I want you to believe you're as useful as I think you are." Anything would be better than her beating herself up. "You weren't useless, you already helped a lot this mission. Okay? I trust you. I want you to trust me too."
Max is quiet for a moment, letting herself process what you just said to her. "You're right. All I want is for you to promise me this: If shit hits the fan...you won't leave me behind. That I'm not some burden."
"I won't. I wouldn't even think of doing that."
"I'll hold you to that."
With a deep breath, her persona washes back over her expression. She firmly pats you on the back while flashing a slightly more genuine shit eating grin. "Well! I bet you got some other people to talk to. Take it easy, huh?" You feel like you should be saying that to her but hey. At least you got to speak candidly with you.

You let go of her shoulders. With that settled for the time being, you hand her some other rags and bags of mud; With her oil ability she should be able to help disguise anything too fancy under enough grime.
Your next target is Clover. He does seem to know a lot about this place after all.
He's busy staring at the gaping hole in the ceiling as if he's expecting something to come crashing down through it. It takes a few shoves to get his attention. "Huh? Oh, hey. What's up, Noel?"
"It's Nicole."
"Same difference. What ya bothering me about this time?"
"You seem to recognize this place."
Clover's yellow eyes shimmer with an anxious energy to them the moment you try prying into his past. "Ya. Didn't like this place one bit when I was a kid here. Don't like being here. Simple as."
"Wait, you were born here?" You'd assume he was born in P or R-Corp given his casino was in P-Corp and, well, the whole cowboy thing.
"Yah. Didn't wanna say nothin' since this is just a job and all of that but it's still as bad as I remembered it." If you had to place an age on him he seems around 34-35 so...modern D-Corp wouldn't have been a thing until he was 14-15. Interesting.
"Let's just say my ma wasn't in the picture for long and my pa ain't nothing but a slimy piece of shit. No fond memories of this place."
"Huh. Wait, you were around before this D-Company was a thing. Was the old one any different? Do you see anything particularly noteworthy?" You are a SEEKER who knows a LOT about the City but you're not omniscient. You'll eagerly take any new information you can get.
"Nah. Same old shit as before. Darkness everywhere you can see. People strugglin' to survive. I mean, the darkness is a bit lighter this time around." Clover is digging through his pockets. He manages to find an old (non-useful consumable) cigarette. You light it up with your FOCUSED TELEKINESIS. "Thanks."
"It's always been like this."
