It was a hard thought to fathom, Lucian admitted. It would make him seem like a dangerous person. That he could possibly be the cause of the terrors that were afflicting people. He might even be mistaken as someone who serves gods other than Morr. Those that are the most foul and should not be named so willingly by a mortal’s lips.
Yet as he thought of it the facts were there, “I cannot really deny that the people will see me as such. I fear that they will worry of my appearance if such a title was held but that won’t stop them feeling that.”
“Aye, I could see that. You’ve fought in enough battles to know that people would be worried if the Black Knight appeared on their frontlines!” Adok laughed with a smirk before shaking away his grin.
“Its just that… I am no longer a simple Heir to Ruin anymore.” Lucian pointed out as he tightened his grip, “I am someone who more or less brings it. Or atleast tells people who are nearby that it will come. An… Omen.”
“An Omen of Ruin?” Adok asked with a raised brow, “Being an Omen would make a little more sense for you I think.”
“And it might be the case its what Morr is having me be. When we appear, the evils of the world stir themselves awake and attempt to strike at the living. I do not bring it to them for it was always there.” Lucian pointed out as he gave a solemn nod to himself, “What I do is stand witness to them. To fight them!”
“Aye, then I think Omen would be the right word.” Adok said with a nod, “Lucian the Durand, Omen of Ruin! It doesn’t sound too bad I think.”
“No, it does not.” Lucian said as he glanced towards the Prince. Still nothing was there, not a sign that the man had heard what the two of them had said just now.
If he survives and returns to Bretonnia, Lucian will have such a title to look forward to. That much was certain.
