The three of you are so close, that it only takes a subtle movement of your foot to change the entire dynamic of the scene. The snake can no longer slither forward without confronting you. The top of your umbrella rests on his, skewing the angle, causing the rain to run down onto his shoulder. "The young master has introduced himself. Will you not offer him the same courtesy?"
He slowly turns in head, shifting his killing gaze from Yuki to you. "The dog can bark."
You continue, "Not only is he a guest of your Daimyo, but servants of the capital answer to the emperor himself. Your actions bring only dishonour upon your lord." The words feel somewhat forced.
The snake coils, ready to release a tremendous amount of energy. You analyze every swing he could take, and in most of them you are simply cut down. Too many variables are stacked against you. You are too close to dodge, the wood in the umbrella is too weak, and the chain that connects you to Yuki constricts your movement. There are a few swings that you could counter, yet in the snakes eyes you see the same calculations. He won't make a mistake, once he draws your life will end. The only option remains, is that the sword never leaves the scabbard in the first place. But who will act first? Who will risk breaking the status quo? The tension in the air builds.
