“Lord Diogenes, you must assist me!” Hypatia pleads. “If I fall here, there will be nothing stopping these vermin from reaching you!”
“It’s always so tiresome, hearing you whelps prattle on about your superiority to these “vermin” while being unable to do anything without my assistance! Very well. I will summon the Elder Bael and allow you one more chance to salvage this mess. Let’s see if you can come out on top.”
The ground underneath you begins rumbling as before your eyes, a creature nearly the size of a small home burrows through the dirt, blocking your way through. With several legs and beady red eyes, you quickly deduce the monster before you is some sort of giant spider. Venomous drool drips from its mandibles and onto the floor, sizzling. It lets loose a horrible roar as it stands on its hindlegs and readies itself to attack. You and Uriel quickly stab at the creature with your Blessed weapons, hoping to destroy it before it can cause you harm. While you both successfully manage to wound the creature, you note that the damage you deal is far less than what you’d normally do against a Demonic Beast.
“This beauty is a personal project of mine.” Diogenes remarks. “You’ll find no Crest Stone inside I’m afraid.”
Hypatia meanwhile, having regained her composure, once more draws her staves. This time, she targets Corrine with her Silence Staff, while lulling Mina to sleep.
