Ein Tiller, the owner of Cinnamon Inn, was far more polite and professional than the old adventurer. His letter reiterated his gratitude to you, then expressed how he wanted to start that meeting with you next time you came to Centria and discuss about setting up a hotel at the plaza you owned. He mentioned how it was becoming clearer that Rostchilde was trying to strong-arm the other inns and hotels into being affiliates of Bed and Barn Inns.
Jal Mozz had a similar complaint, but from the perspective of his own circle of merchants. With less overt methods of control, Rostchilde's clique instead dangled good business deals to entice others. However this didn't seem to pan out as well for Rostchilde, who made as many enemies as he did allies through both his crude behavior and brazen attempts at bribery. He ended up intimidating the 'upstart merchants' that refused to be part of his faction. Said 'upstart merchants' that Jal was part of, who had recently made names for themselves, now scrambled around to curry favor with other entrenched businessmen and aristocrats to mixed success. Jal once again reminded you of his offer, wishing to commission artifacts to help his factory become more efficient— though now he also hinted at a future partnership.
Todred didn't reply to your inquiries.
Which was unexpected. You'd thought that Todred would at least write some platitudes and offer a polite explanation— as he had in the past. But getting nothing was almost concerning.
Eulia confirmed that there was no mail from any old wizards or Academy, the latter meaning that Marigold hadn't written back to you either. As you were speaking to the mailgirl harpy, you decided to write a letter to her boss explaining why she was late. Despite the fact that Eulia assured you that it wasn't needed, she still took the letter with her (along with any other responses you'd written) at your insistence.
You'd also got four letters from the adventurers you hired, each from a different party member. They mostly spoke about the same thing in differing levels of professionalism— having gotten a good lead on the whereabouts of the mass murderer. But not before "cleaning up the crime in the plaza" like you'd requested, claiming that the side-quest you'd offered was complete. This didn't mean that the lamia's influence was fully gone, but at the very least it wouldn't be relevant any more. They confirmed that the plaza was a safer place now; although the Black Knight adventuress, Uviel, and the Battle Cleric, Aelcar, both wrote that some of the already deteriorating buildings had collapsed in the battle against the Snake Eyes gang. They also reported rumors of the Thieves' Guild using the local tavern to hold their meetings— mentioning how it was likely they moved their operations elsewhere after the adventurers attacked things.
