>>5182204You admit, you don’t like much about this idea. Two hands aren’t enough to count all the possible ways Monica’s plan can backfire on you. And yet, if there’s a chance that this can help lead you to finding Martha and Xavier, you must act upon it.
>“Fine, I’ll help you. But if you’re right and this Bishop really is behind it all, we have to go to Edelgard and tell her right away.” Monica shrugs. “Fine by me. I’m sure she’d have a thing or two to say about the Church kidnapping students from the Empire.” She grabs you by the hands. “Thanks Blair! I knew I could count on you. Now come on, let’s go. We’ve got some time before Reynauld returns and we’ve got to make it count!” With that, the redhead spirits you away, towards the residential district of Garreg Mach, further south.
The residential district contains modest housing for some of the ranking Knights of Seiros and their families, as well as the clergy and the academy’s staff. As a result, students from the academy don’t often come by, as there isn’t much for them to see. This earns you and Monica a few curious glances from some of the locals, but fortunately, there aren’t many of them out and about at this current time. The girl leads you down a windy road, stopping at an unmemorable looking house with its curtains drawn at the end of the block. Looking at it from the outside, it doesn’t exactly stand out.
“Okay, just stay put here while I get the door open. Let me know if anyone’s coming.” Monica says brightly.
>“Huh? Do you have a key or something?”“Of course not, silly.” You hear the girl fiddling with the doorknob from behind you, while you nervously stand watch and wonder how you got into this situation. “Just gotta…jiggle it a little…and….click!”
You hear the door’s lock unhitching as it swings wide open.
>“H-have you done this before?”“Once or twice. I told you, I’m pretty sneaky! Okay now get in!” She grabs you with surprising strength, pulling you inside the house and closing the door behind you. It takes a while for your eyes to adjust to the darkness, but they eventually do. The inside looks just as modest as the outside did. The room is furnished, and there’s a shrine to the Goddess inside, but overall, it’s not as extravagant as you’d expect from a Bishop of the Church. There’s also a peculiar smell you can’t place your finger on.
>“So…what are we looking for exactly?”“Anything suspicious. If this is our guy, he must have left some sort of a trail. This place isn’t too big, let’s split up and see if we can find anything.”
>A): Check the shelves in the back>B): Investigate the source of the smell.>C): Check the floorboards>D): This is too risky. Leave the house.>E): Ask Monica for more clarification.
