"So... those guys will probably attack us again. What did they call themselves?"
<span class="mu-i">"Mm? Dunno, I wasn't really listening, just waiting to fight."</span>
<span class="mu-i">"They did call themselves an 'alliance' or something..."</span>
"Like... like a Yakuza clan?"
<span class="mu-i">"Yakuza? You mean organized crime. Hm... wouldn't know much about that myself. Here's hoping that Reimu will know more."</span> Mokou says.
Weird. But what you thought was weirder was that black goop the assailant rose from. It was so slick... like oil. And it smelled like oil too. Something to keep note of, but your group is leaving that one far behind. You were out of the Bamboo Forest of the Lost now.
The Human Village awaited.
<span class="mu-i">"Hey! Open up, you lazes!"</span> Mokou shouted when she approached a tall and sturdy wooden gate to a massive wall that stretched for... for so long!
You saw glimpses of the Village from afar when approaching it the way Mokou led you, and it was huge! A lot huger than the name 'Village' might imply. There had to be at least a couple thousand or more people living here! You could see why Humans chose to congregate in a walled off settlement like this.
On the inside, was a better sight awaiting than you initially anticipated. This Village, it was beautiful!

The calming image of the Edo Period, or otherwise just a really nice slice of Japanese history. People in colorful kimonos walked without fear in the streets, smiles on their friendly faces, and kids were running freely to play. Chipper merchants and workers worked the streets, selling their wares out in the open and getting to work on projects that required hardy muscle. You even saw priests, and a few armed guards equipped in cuirasses with trusty blades at their sides patrolling the streets. Hey, you could get used to this.
Your only trouble you found so far is that, while you seemed to be able to understand everyone and they understand you when it came to speaking, you couldn't discern the meanings behind written language here. The purposes entailed behind signs fell off of your real quick. You didn't have much of a hope when it came to understanding that right away. Actually, come to think of it, how the hell does anyone understand what you say anyway? You're a damn American stuck in a weeaboo's wonderland... was it the Big Dipper enabling something in you? ...Suddenly, you feel the need to keep it even harder, despite not wanting to follow what Doremy told you before.
