You gave your sister a thoughtful look. “I’m gonna need a quick summary of your powers so that I know exactly what it is that I’m dealing with here. They might come in handy later.”
Victoria frowned, her eyes narrowing slightly. She seemed to be mentally weighing the consequences of revealing such sensitive information, unsure of whether to divulge any more of her secrets.
Eventually, she came to a decision and nodded slightly. Without warning, she began to lift off of the ground, stopping once she was hovering several inches above it.
So there was teleportation, memory manipulation, and flight. An interesting combination.
“Huh. Neat.” you said, for lack of a better word to describe your initial shock. “Anything else?”
She shook her head. “Nothing that you would have time for. Not now, at least.”
“Fair enough.”
You glanced back at the Chameleon. He was still hanging upside down, his arms and legs positioned in such a way that his body resembled an inverted crucifix, while his eyes rolled around inside of his head. Maybe that was symbolic or something. You’re sure Matt would probably appreciate the spectacle.
“I’m gonna need you to take me somewhere in a bit.” you said, not looking back at her as she lowered herself back down. “But before that, I’m gonna have to drop this guy off for safe-keeping.”
You didn’t wait for a response. Instead, you called up Julia and requested another portal from Rintrah at your current position. It was another few minutes of awkward, stilted conversation with Vic before said portal opened up behind you.
You hurriedly grabbed the Chameleon, yanked him down from the water tower and started pulling him towards the shimmering rift. At least, that’s what your plan had been before you realized that Victoria had managed to teleport his into the iron bar of the water tower.
Yikes.
You were pretty sure that pulling it out would rupture more than a few blood vessels, and cause him to bleed out. So in order to avoid that, you used your Mark to heat the metal surrounding the bar, and broke it off to the best of your ability. The heated bar should somewhat staunch the bleeding for the moment, but you’d have to move fast.
“Come on. We’ve got to hurry.” you demanded, before stepping through the portal. Thankfully, Vic didn’t require much convincing. She seemed much more confident and…sure of herself now.
Right now, though, her attention was squarely fixed on the mansion that overlooked the massive stretch of land you were deposited on.
“Wait here.” you said, lugging the Chameleon over your shoulder. “I’ll be right back.”
She said nothing in reply, but she didn’t look like she was going anywhere anytime soon. You really hoped that she actually intended to wait for you here, because she was your ride if you wanted to make it to ESU before things blew up.
